RASTRAC was created in 1993, as a tool for people with valuable mobile assets, who have no other way to reliably keep track of those assets. At that time, we predicted that GPS would become a worldwide utility, and would soon be joined by other positioning technologies. The result is that we have been given access to a modern new utility, the positioning utility. What better way to make use of it than to help people keep track of their valuable mobile assets!

RASTRAC is primarily developed in C++/C# and is composed of over 1,500,000 lines of program code. Over 70 man-years thus far been invested in the development of RASTRAC. RASTRAC has been implemented in five different languages: English, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, and Thai.
