New Advisory

The Advisory Settings… command allows you to create a new polygonal advisory
region by clicking the mouse around the boundaries of the desired region (up to
500 points can be defined – the more points you define, the slower the activation
will be). You can also define an event advisory that does not contain a map
region.
How to create a polygonal advisory region using the Define function:
Choose a map image that contains the region of interest. Make the map window
topmost in the current window stack.
Select the Advisory... Settings... menu item.
Select New and click Next.
Select the "When a vehicle is inside a specified area..." option.

Fill in the standard advisory definition dialog, then click Next.
If you have an image that will be opened for the advisory, you need to use the same
name as the image filename (e.g. AIRPRT.ADV opens the AIRPRT.JPG image).

The Polygon Entry dialog will automatically open, prompting you to click on
the boundary vertices of the region:

Point and click on the boundary vertices. You must maintain either a
CLOCKWISE or COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction around the boundary.

When finished entering vertices, click OK to complete the process.
See steps 6, 7, 8, and 9 below (in the create event advisory section).
The new advisory will immediately be displayed if Advisory Boundary Display is
on. If you don't see it, press "A" to turn on the boundary display.
You can use the Advisory Define function to identify polygonal regions like
cities, lakes, rivers, runways, streets, and delivery routes.
When a vehicle enters an advisory region (and its course qualifies), RASTRAC automatically executes the entry application. When the advisory transitions
from a qualified state to an unqualified state (i.e., the vehicle goes outside
the region or its course goes outside the defined course range), RASTRAC executes the exit application. During the time between entry and exit, the
advisory image and/or text will be displayed in its own advisory window.
How to create an event advisory using the Define function:
Select the Advisory... Settings... menu item.
Select New and click Next.
Select the "When a specific event occurs..." option.

Fill in the standard advisory definition dialog, then click Next.
If you have an image that will be opened for the advisory, you need to use the same
name as the image filename (e.g. EMERGENCY.ADV opens the EMERGENCY.JPG image).

Enter the event code that will trigger the advisory. Most likely you will also want
to check the ‘Always open this advisory...’ check box.

You may want visual cues to alert you when the advisory is triggered.

You may want audio cues to alert you when the advisory is triggered.

You may want the advisory to only be triggered during certain times, like after normal working hours.

Click on Finish.
