Deleting a Vehicle on Advisory Open or Close
Some applications associate certain vehicle events with the end of the
vehicle's usefulness to the operator. Two examples are given here:
Delete Vehicle on Entry: If you use the Vehicle Aging function to trigger an
event when the vehicle fix becomes too old, you may wish to automatically delete
the vehicle from the database (e.g., if the unit has been turned off or it has
traveled outside your area of coverage). To perform such a task
automatically, the advisory associated with the expiration event ID (specified in the
Vehicle... Aging Options dialog) will run at the end of the vehicle fix's useful
lifetime. To cause auto-delete, you simply choose "Delete Vehicle on Entry" for
that advisory, and when the advisory is opened, the vehicle will be deleted
automatically by RASTRAC.
Delete Vehicle on Exit: This example applies to applications employing
multiple RASTRAC workstations, each of which is assigned a different geographic area of
coverage. For example, in a traffic management scenario, "Joe" (a workstation
operator) might be assigned to downtown only. When a vehicle leaves the downtown
area, it is no longer of interest to Joe. Thus, Joe can lighten his workload by
defining an advisory that covers the downtown area, and selecting the "Delete
Vehicle on Exit" button in the Advisory Settings...Advanced dialog. When vehicles travel
outside Joe's area of interest, they will automatically be deleted from Joe's vehicle
database.
