Advisory Modify Region
Modify Advisory Region
The Modify Region command allows you to modify an existing advisory region
that was previously defined. Open a map and zoom to the advisory region you want
to modify. When you select the menu item, you will be prompted for the file
name of the desired advisory. After you select the advisory you can right click
on the map to get a drop down menu for modifying the region. You can add or
delete points from the advisory polygon. When you are finished you can save the
changes or discard them. You must select either ‘Discard Changes and Quit’ or ‘Save Changes and Quit’ when you are done modifying the advisory region.
Have you ever created a new advisory, clicking on a region on the map, and
then realized that you need to change it? That's what the "Modify Region" function
does. It allows you to add and delete vertices from a geographic advisory
region. Here's how to use it:
- Open a map in RASTRAC, press the "A" key (to display advisory boundaries),
and move the map so that the advisory is visible on the map.
- Select "Advisory...Modify Region…" and choose the .ADV file of the advisory
you want to change.
- On the map, right-click the mouse on one of the vertices of the advisory
region. Choose "Delete this vertex." Note that the vertex goes away. Now right
click again, and choose "Discard changes and quit." Note that the vertex that
you just deleted came back, and the advisory region is left just like it was.
- Now select "Advisory...Modify Region…" again, choose the .ADV file, and
right-click on the boundary of the advisory region (not on a vertex, but on the line
that connects two vertices). Choose "Add a vertex." Note that you can
rubber-band-drag the mouse to choose the new vertex.
- Now right-click again and choose "Save changes and quit." When you quit the
function this way, RASTRAC writes the new .LEG file definitions to the disk and
keeps the changes that you made.
You can add and/or delete as many advisory vertices as you wish, but remember
that you can only modify one advisory region at a time (that is, you have to
quit modifying one advisory before you can start modifying another one).
