Calibration Points

Calibration Points

A legend file may contain up to 500 calibration points. Each Cal point occupies one line of text in the legend file. The more points defined, the longer each map calibration will take (so don’t add unnecessary points).

A calibration point is automatically added to a legend file as a result of the "Map... Raster Map... Add Cal Point" function. A cal point is removed from a legend file as a result of the "Map... Raster Map... Delete Cal Point" function. While it is perfectly acceptable to delete cal point lines from a legend file, you should never attempt to manually add calibration points to a legend file.

The concept of calibration applies only to map definitions. It does not apply to advisory definitions. However, RASTRAC uses the calibration element of the legend file to store a polygonal advisory region's vertices. The lat/lon values of each vertex are stored in the lat/lon elements of the "calibration" entry. The x/y offsets are not used."
