Compatible Raster Image Formats
RASTRAC is capable of acquiring, interpreting, and displaying a wide variety of image
formats and resolutions. These formats include:
BMP (Bitmap)
GIF (Graphics Interchange Format)
PCX
TGA (Targa)
TIF (Tagged Image File Format)
JPG (JPEG- Joint Photographic Experts Group)
BSB/NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration)
RASTRAC seeks for file types in this order: BMP, GIF, PCX, TGA, TIF, JPG, BSB/NOAA.
For example, if DOWNTOWN.PCX and DOWNTOWN.JPG both reside in the map directory, RASTRAC will display DOWNTOWN.PCX because it will be detected first. The only way,
in this example, to cause RASTRAC to display DOWNTOWN.JPG is to either remove or rename DOWNTOWN.PCX.
