Layered Mapping Overview
Layered Mapping Overview
"Layered" maps are those maps that are created by merging multiple map data
sources into a single map. These layers can be any combination of raster images
and vector databases. For example, a layered map could be created by combining
several vector database layers (streets, rivers, lakes, railroads, etc...), to
provide a very aesthetically pleasing map that maintains street look up
features. Once a layered map is defined, the combined layers can be saved to disk in
BML (Blue Marble Layer) to allow for optimum display speed when the map is
used for vehicle tracking.
You can zoom a map by holding down the left mouse button on a map and dragging
an outline of the area of interest. When you release the left mouse button
the map will zoom to the area outlined by the ‘zoom-box’. To move the ‘zoom-box’ for a raster or layered map, hold the shift key while moving the mouse to
place the ‘zoom-box’ where you want it (this will not work for a PW_Street map). If you want to
cancel the zoom, hold down the control (Ctrl) key when you release the mouse
button.
