Shift Map
Shift Map
Your initial map definitions can often contain some uniform error. Such
errors are not efficiently removed via the nominal calibration algorithm. The Shift
Map function allows you to uniformly shift a map's definition on the earth,
via the same "point & click" operation that you use when calibrating.
When you execute the Shift Map command, you are prompted for the vehicle whose
position you wish to use for reference. The vehicle must be currently
displayed in the topmost map window.
If you're not sure that the desired window is on top, just click on its
caption bar and move it a bit. This will cause it to become the topmost window.
When you click the mouse, you are telling RASTRAC "The vehicle is REALLY here," and RASTRAC shifts the entire map definition (in the *.LEG file) so that the displayed
position will be corrected at that geographic point. Once the new position is
entered, Shift Map mode is automatically terminated. You can click-shift a map
only once for each execution of the Shift Map command.
The Shift Map function does not add a calibration point to the definition. It
simply and uniformly changes the definition of the map in its legend file.
