Start Recording
Start Recording
The Start Recording command begins recording vehicle information (e.g.
position, speed, course, altitude, time) to a recorder file. When you execute this
command, you are prompted for the vehicle ID.
RASTRAC automatically creates the recorded file in the recorder subdirectory
under a year, month, day structure. This is the default configuration. The
recording files are automatically opened and when the date changes (rolls past
midnight), a new directory and file are created. If you would like to select
where the recorded file is saved, check the "Prompt for Path…" button in the Tools…
Options… System… Recorder dialog. You will then be prompted for the path and
filename every time you select Start Recording.
You can also configure RASTRAC to save all vehicle information to the recorder file or just the GPS and
event data. Go to the Tools… Options… System… Recorder dialog. From there you can
select "Record Everything…" or "Record GPS and Event…". See the Recorder
section in the System Options for more details.
You can also configure RASTRAC to automatically open recorder files for all vehicles by selecting the
"Recording" button in the Tools… Options… System… Vehicle dialog. If "Recording" is
selected, RASTRAC will open a recorder file each time a new vehicle is created.
For more information about default recorder settings see System Options
Quick Tip: The Start Recording command can also be executed from the toolbar menu.
