Password Create/Modify

Password Create/Modify

The create/modify password menu allows you to create or modify the password(s) for the system. There are three (3) passwords allowed in RASTRAC. If there are no passwords defined, you can define the passwords for all three levels (level 1 is the lowest and level 3 is the highest). If system passwords are already defined, you can only change the password for your current level or a lower level. When you select the password create/modify menu, you will be prompted to select which password level you want to create or modify. Always start by defining the level 3 password first (then do level 2 and then level 1). After you have selected the password level, you will be prompted to enter the password. You must use at least six (6) characters (any combination of letters and/or numbers). Passwords are case sensitive which means upper and lower case letters are different (so don’t forget if you used capital letters in the password). You will then be prompted to re-enter the password for verification (to make sure that you entered it correctly). If you want to disable passwords, don’t put in a password (leave it blank and select OK). You will need to disable (enter a blank password) for all three levels to disable password protection. Once you have created the level 3 password, you will then need to enter it into the software (go to Tools…Password…Enter…). Level 3 is the highest level and has access to all functions of RASTRAC. Level 2 is the next level and it has less functionality than level 3 (mostly in the vehicle control area). Level 1 has the lowest level of control. Several functions such as system options and vehicle control have been disabled for this level.

WARNING: If passwords are enabled, do not modify (edit) any of the RASTRAC system files (e.g. rtmx.ini, vehicles.ini, port.ini, etc…) outside of RASTRAC unless you are a level 3 user. If any of the system files are modified outside of RASTRAC, the system will not operate properly unless a level 3 user is logged in. RASTRAC and all system files are protected by the system passwords (even though you can edit the files with a text editor). If the password protected files have been violated, RASTRAC will no longer function properly until the modified file has been restored or a level 3 user logs into RASTRAC.
