Why do we have to make these changes?
Verizon Wireless has announced that the CDMA 2G technology that is utilized in your devices will be discontinued on or about December 31, 2019. Your current Verizon Wireless devices will no longer operate once the CDMA technology is discontinued.
What is the cost difference?
Your Rastrac Project Consultant will be contacting you to present you with your specific bundled pricing. You can also call out office at (512) 918-0700 and ask for your Project Consultant if you have immediate questions that need to be answered, or if you want to be more proactive with this situation.
How are we going to uninstall old equipment and install the new equipment?
One of two things will happen. As an existing customer, either you installed your equipment originally, or we had it installed for you. Based on your preference, we can offer bundled pricing with and without installation.
We can also introduce you to an installer in your area so you will be able to work with them directly on your installation costs.
Do I have to sign a new extended agreement?
That is not absolutely necessary. However, your best bundled price option would require a new 3 year agreement. Plus, Rastrac will provide a warranty for the term of the contract.
How long will this new upgraded agreement and technology last before I have to do this again?
LTE technology (long term evolution) is predicted to be a multiyear technology. However, we are all at the mercy of the cellular wireless carriers, and cannot predict when they will make drastic changed to their networks in the future. It has been approximately five years since this has happened before.
How long can we wait to make these changes?
While you do have some time before the sunset date occurs, we suggest a strategy that ensures all your affected units are replaced ahead of the deadline. As the date gets closer, Verizon will begin to shut down their 2G system in certain areas.
What more will I get with new devices?
You will get the most up-to-date devices that run at higher speeds. In some cases, the newer model devices may provide additional features such as detecting certain driver behaviors.
